Stories of Love, Emotion, and New Beginnings
THE BOOK
It Started with a Fire
Jess and Lottie have always been inseparable, friends from a young age. Bound by their love for art, together they turn a dream of running an art gallery with an art centre into reality — the Lynton Stone Art Centre, a space where creativity thrives and students are nurtured.
Tragedy stands at their doorstep as a devastating fire threatens to destroy their hard work. Amidst the chaos, Jess is forced to confront her own insecurities and step up to care for a young American student who becomes a guest in her home. With a blend of friendship, resilience, and new beginnings, It Started with a Fire is a journey of overcoming adversity and embracing what truly matters — family, love, and a sense of belonging.

A taste of the story
From the pages of It Started with a Fire
“The fire that threatens to destroy them is the thing that changes everything. Jess had never imagined that standing in the ruins of everything she had built could feel like the beginning of something — but there, amidst the smoke and the ash, she saw it clearly for the first time.”

WHAT’S NEXT
What’s next from Jane Taylor
Jane has recently started the writing of her second novel — the highly anticipated follow-up to her debut. Jess and Lottie’s story isn’t over yet.
The sequel picks up where It Started with a Fire leaves off: with the Lynton Stone Art Centre thriving, new relationships beginning to take shape, and Jess finally starting to believe that the life she has longed for might actually be within reach.
But nothing in Jess’s world ever stays simple for long. The sequel will deepen the friendships, challenge the bonds, and ask whether the things we most want are worth the risk of reaching for them.
“Jess’s story was never going to end where the first book ended. There was too much still waiting for her. I have loved going back to these characters and discovering what happens next. I hope readers will feel exactly the same way.”
